ACI 318-19 French Version 1.0 — Coming April 2026

The ACI Morocco Chapter is proud to lead the translation of ACI 318-19: Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary into French, a comprehensive effort involving Moroccan universities, industry professionals, and the Ministry of Habitat. This project is critical to bridging the language barrier that often limits access to global technical standards in Morocco. With the construction sector rapidly evolving and regulations becoming more stringent, a French version of ACI 318-19 will ensure that professionals at all levels can effectively adopt and apply international best practices.
This initiative began in April 2024 under the leadership of Mr. IDRISSI HASSANI Mohamed, who brought together a diverse team of students, professors, and professionals to contribute their expertise. Collaboration spans multiple universities and industry stakeholders, creating a unique synergy between academic and professional perspectives. Weekly task group meetings every Tuesday foster discussions and consensus on translation challenges, ensuring the highest accuracy and relevance.
The translation process uses SmartCat, starting with machine-generated drafts, followed by meticulous reviews by sub-groups assigned to specific chapters. Volunteers further refine the text, and once finalized, chapters are sent for validation. This rigorous process ensures both technical precision and compliance with national standards.
This French version will not only make ACI 318-19 more accessible to Moroccan professionals but also empower students and young engineers, fostering broader participation and engagement with both global and local standards.
By addressing the language gap, this project lays the groundwork for a stronger, more inclusive construction industry in Morocco, where knowledge and resources are shared more widely for the benefit of all.
